Description

Purchased through our valued partners at Cofinet, Volcán is our leading house espresso.

This is a regional blend from producers in the Nariño region, at the highest coffee growing altitude in Colombia. The low temperature at this altitude creates a climate that is perfect for slow maturation of coffee cherries, developing a higher concentration of sugars.

The soil in Nariño is unlike many others in Colombia — it’s extraordinarily rich in volcanic ash, due to high volcanic activity in the area. The ash that this activity creates is rich in nutrients that contribute to healthy coffee trees and greater complexity in the cup.

Cofinet are partnered with coffee associations in Nariño, and have forged close connections in the region. The average size of a farm in this zone is less that 1.5 hectares — Cofinet have designed a socially-driven program that focuses on quality and aims to help the smallest and least protected farmers in this region.
