Following the continued success of our original 1841 café on Vinicombe Street, opening a second location felt like a natural progression, one that had been in planning for some time.
When Russell, our Managing Director, was approached by the former owners of JellyHill about taking on their Hyndland Road site, the timing and space aligned. A long-standing plan between Russell and Grant was finally able to take shape.
With a strong background in bar management and hands-on experience running the Vinicombe Street café, Grant is well placed to lead this new multi-use café and bar.
Grant announced the new opening on social media
"We'll be opening a new space at 195 Hyndland Road. This won't just be a copy-and-paste of 1841 on Vinicombe Street; instead, it will be a cafe/bar offering all the treats and high-quality coffee you're used to, with the added bonus of delicious beers, wines, and nibbles.
We're extremely proud of and grateful for the community that has formed around 1841. Without being overly cliché, we've met such an incredible group of regulars and friends since opening in 2020, and we couldn't be more thankful. We can't wait to do the same in hyndland – but with a slight twist"
Opened in August 2025, the new space has been brought to life by the same team behind the original 1841, including Grant’s wife, whose creative direction helped shape the vision. Expect a familiar atmosphere with a warm Mediterranean edge, and a seamless shift from daytime café to relaxed wine and cocktail bar in the evening.
