INFO
This coffee has been grown and produced by a number of smallholder producers in the Buku kebele, and has been processed at the Buku washing station located in Buku Abel. This washing station boasts an altitude of 2350 meters above sea level in the Guji zone, one of the highest coffee producing altitudes that we’ve bought from.
During the harvest season (typically November to January), cherries are manually selected before being taken to the processing station where they are hand sorted before being dried on raised beds, and turned frequently until the ideal moisture level is reached. The coffee is once again hand sorted for the final time after drying, and is then prepared for export.
The producers of coffee in the Guji region grow locally selected varieties 74110, 74112, and 74158. These varieties were developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) in the 1970s.
